Top Supernatural Episodes - #1

Here we are at the end of our count down. Make sure to check out the past Supernatural post and don't forget to enter the Big Giveaway. It ends tonight!

Our #1 episode is Season 2 Episode 15 "Tall Tales". I like the dark and creepy feel of Supernatural but the humor is what makes it something special. Even when it's a dark tale they still manage to fit some humor into it. This episode is wonderful as it pokes fun at the boy's personalities and how they are perceived by the other. Lots of fun! And our first meeting of Gabriel "The Trickster".

It's "Supernatural Week" at Laughing Vixen Lounge. You can keep up to date with past posts by checking the list on the sidebar. And don't forget to check out the Big Giveaway. If you love SPN you don't want to miss out on this. Also, all Supernatural designs in the shop will donate a portion of their sales to @SupportSPN and their cause "A Dog's Life Rescue".

During our "Supernatural Week" we will be counting down The Lounge's top 8 episodes. They aren't in any real order just favorites. Our #2 episode is Season 4 Episode 18 "Monster At The End Of The Book". I'm going to group this together with Season 5 Episode 09 "The Real Ghostbusters" as they go together. In the first episode Sam and Dean learn their lives are the subject of a hugely popular book series called "Supernatural". It's fun to watch their reactions and to see the episodes turned into books with some great cover art.

The second episode has the boys tricked into attending a Supernatural convention. Need I really say more? Just priceless! Fans dressing up as Sam and Dean, Supernatural merchandise and live role playing. It's lots of fun to watch. Lovingly poking fun at the fandom community.

It was a hard choice between this and "Switching Channels" but I went with this episode because I'm a huge classic monster movie fan. They did a wonderful job capturing the feel of the old movies blended with classic Supernatural humor. It's the perfect treat for the upcoming season.

I love this episode as it's just silly fun! Dean gets infected with Ghost Sickness and it proves for an amusing time. Dean becomes afraid of the slightest things...driving too fast, heights, little puppies etc. The best scene I saw coming a mile away and had me laughing before it had even happened. Dean reacting to the kitty cat in the locker. Priceless! And of course the little treat at the end. Jensen doing Eye Of The Tiger.

This is one of the creepiest episodes. I personally have a thing about Scarecrows. They just aren't right! And when Dean is standing on the ladder with his face right up by the horrible thing....ugh! Ish! Yuck! Just makes me nervous to watch. Then when it starts running around at night killing people well, need I really say anymore?

This episode introduces us to Meg who Sam meets while he decides to part ways with Dean. And we also learn of Dean's affection for PIE and the boys get their first call from Dad.

During our "Supernatural Week" we will be counting down The Lounge's top 8 episodes. They aren't in any real order just favorites. Our #7 episode is Season 3 Episode 08 "A Very Supernatural Christmas". This episode started with Santa coming down the chimney. We only see his lower half but it's dirty and bloody and I knew I was in for an icky episode. Anytime they mix Santa with a murderer it just seems so wrong. But I thought this episode worked as a creepy little treat. I just try to ignore that bit about the finger nails being pulled off. Ugh! That makes me about pass out.

We also get to see young Sam and Dean's past Christmas experience. Including Sam giving Dean his necklace.

Sam and Dean solve a case that involves a ghost and some mysterious deaths at a little haunted inn. This episode has a great spooky feel to it while also having some of the funniest lines.

One of the best scenes is Sam and Dean checking in to the inn and being mistaken for "Antiquers".

Other great scenes are when Dean tries to convince the owner to let them look around her room by telling her that Sam is a huge lover of dolls. And we're not talking about good looking women.

Then the fabulous drunk scene with the classic line..."You're bossy...and short".

There were also some great promo pictures put out for this episode.

Fear Friday - Supernatural Edition..."My Bloody Valentine"

It's Friday all you hep Dolls and Kats. That means a new "Fear Friday and the start of "Supernatural Week" . So come on in and join us in kicking off "Supernatural Week" at The Lounge with this week's Supernatural inspired movie selection.
"My Bloody Valentine - 2009"

Directed by Patrick Lussier (Dracula 2000 and the upcoming Halloween III 3D) and released on January 16, 2009 by Lionsgate. Starring Jensen Ackles (Supernatural), Kerr Smith (Dawson's Creek) and Jamie King (Gary Unmarried). In the mining town of Harmony a horrible accident kills 5 people in the mine. The one survivor awakes from a coma on Valentine's Day and kills 22 people. Amongst the dead are a bunch of teens who were having a party down at the mine (yeah, that sounds like a smart idea!). Only a few teens survive. Skip forward 10 years as everyone comes together again in the small town. People have changed, things have changed but the one this that remains the same....It's Valentine's Day and people are gonna start dying!

Jensen Ackles aka Dean Winchester from Supernatural

My mom and I went to see this in the theater when it opened. I thought the 3D would be fun and we both have watched Supernatural from the start so I had to go watch Dean on the big screen. First off, this was my first new 3D experience and my last. Only a small portion of the screen can be in focus at any one time with the new 3D technology. So the whole movie was blurry and hard to watch. I ended up with a horrible migraine. Though the small bits of 3D did look pretty cool.

                              Nice guns on the boy

The movie itself was quite fun. I've yet to watch the original so I had no idea going in how the story went. It ended up being fun and kept me guessing who the killer was. Early on I had my suspicion but it was good at making me doubt my choice. I flopped like a fish back and forth until the end. Which is a good thing in my book. I don't want to completely see the ending coming from a mile away.

                                Ackles, King and Smith

Beyond that it's pretty much your standard slasher film. Nothing to terribly original but lots of fun none the less. If you want something that won't make you think too hard and has some pretty boys to look at, then pop some popcorn and settle in with this little gem.

Some trivia about the movie...
1. The first two characters killed on screen are named Jason and Michael, an homage to characters from the Friday the 13th and Halloween series where the killers are non-speaking. A direct reference to the films is how they die - trademark features of the characters.
2. The film was made into a haunted house at Universal's "Halloween Horror Nights".
3. A flyer on a wall indicates that Valentine's Day is Saturday, February 14th. That would mean the previous day is Friday the 13th.

Fear Friday Presents..."Dead and Breakfast"

It's been a bit hectic around The Lounge the last few weeks but now it's getting back under control. We missed the last couple of Fridays but Fear Friday is back with a favorite around these parts. Most have probably never heard of it but if you like a little cheese with your horror this is perfect.

"Dead and Breakfast"

Directed by Matthew Leutwyler (This Space Between Us, Road Kill and Unearthed) and released on August 19, 2005 by Anchor Bay Entertainment. A group of young people, on their way to a wedding, stop for the night at a bed and breakfast in the little town of Lovelock, Texas. Upon waking they find some dead bodies and an evil spirit possessing the townsfolk, turning them into Zombies. Can they stop the madness before it takes over forever? And wow, can those Zombies dance. That's right, dance!

You will either love this movie or hate it! The tagline for it was "It's like a bad horror film, only worse". That pretty much sums it up. This is a grade A hunk of cheesiness. Lots of squirting blood, jokes and Zombies. And yes, there is a roaming band (kinda like "Something About Mary") so you have singing Zombies that even do a little dance. It's silly, funny and bad in all the best ways.

And as an extra treat it has two of my favorites in it, Jeffery Dean Morgan (The Sheriff) and Jeremy Sisto (Ahhh, let's just say The Head). Also stars David and Ever Carradine.

Some trivia about the movie...
1. When the group first gets to the bed and breakfast, they hear the song "The Freshmen" on the radio and sing to it. "The Freshmen" was written and performed by Brian Vander Ark, who appears as a zombie and wrote the original score to the film.
2. When the Sheriff is pulling the chainsaw out of the closet, an Evil Dead poster can be seen.
3. When Melody (Gina Philips) kills one of the zombies, the Sheriff (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) says, "Nice move, Buffy." Bianca Lawson, who plays Kate in the film, played Kendra on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series.
4. 34 gallons of "blood" were used over the course of the shoot. 4.5 gallons of "blood" were used just to cut off Erik Palladino's head.
